Sainsbury’s rolls out cloud first strategy

Sainsbury’s is rolling out a cloud first strategy as part of plans to speed up time to market and create new revenue streams.

The supermarket retailer also hopes its new cloud strategy will accelerate business growth.

Sainsbury’s has partnered with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to modernise its existing IT infrastructure into a hybrid cloud stack, it will also provide end-to-end managed services for network connectivity and security.

It will build a scalable foundation for a digital core with the aim of making the retailer’s operations more flexible and agile.

Sainsburys said it plans to reinvest any savings made to offer value to customers through lower costs and innovation.

Commenting on the news Phil Jordan, Group CIO of Sainsbury’s said: “This platform transformation underpinned by a cloud-first strategy is critical for our business.”
